National Basketball Association編輯

He was a highly touted prep player from Alief Elsik High School in Houston, Texas. He bypassed college and opted for the NBA draft in 1998-1999, but the hometown Houston Rockets, who had 3 first round picks that year, passed him up with all three. He ended up being drafted by the Supersonics in the second round, the 32nd pick overall. After he was drafted, Lewis cried on national TV to show his disappointment that he was not drafted by his hometown team the Rockets. He has since had a solid career as a forward including his first All Star berth in the 2004-2005 season. In 2001, Rashard was selected to play for the USA in the Goodwill Games in which they won the gold medal. On November 22, 2005, Rashard passed Dale Ellis for second place on the Sonics list of most three pointers made. Only Gary Payton has more with 917. Over his 8-year career, he holds an average of 16.0 points per game, with his career high of 20.5 points per game coming in the 2004-05 season.

His mother named him after former NFL player and current sportscaster Ahmad Rashad.
